The worst job experience in my whole entire career
This is my platform and I believe it is important to speak out about what I went through. This is not meant to be an attack, but rather to shed light on the reality of an experience that I encountered while working at Fox and BCHell. I simply cannot remain silent in the face of such painful circumstances.
Blockchain Creative Labs was the most bizarre and unbelievable experience of my career. It was a nightmare that I would not wish upon my worst enemy. Those who are aware of the risks, scams, frauds, and dangers in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space should understand what I am talking about. If you are not aware, you can read about current events and scandals in this field, such as the collapse of Luna, Celsius Network, FTX, Voyager Digital, Three Arrows Capital, and other fake NFT projects that are just trying to make a quick profit.
In October 2020, I was presented with an opportunity to apply for a Tech Lead position at a start-up company that was internally funded within a large media company. I interviewed with three people, but the process became very strange and bizarre. There was a lot of political turmoil, and people were getting tired. Some saw it coming, while others had experienced it before. It all felt too familiar. It was clear that something was not right. I heard stories about what was happening, and my own experience was quite unique and unfathomable. I would not wish it on anyone else. It was unprofessional and unacceptable to be left in the dark, wondering when it would be my turn. I watched as person A, person B, and person C were introduced, but I never received any communication about my own application.
At the time, I was personally interviewing up to around 40 candidates, and one day I looked at the company's career page out of curiosity and saw what I had been told to expect. If I had not applied for the Technical Director position, while still having an open application after three interviews, I would never have received any communication about the Tech Lead position that I had originally applied for and interviewed for several times. I spent five months in the dark without any communication.
Even now, there are still unresolved issues and "elephants in the room" that have never been addressed. I interviewed twice with the same person who eventually became my manager, but we never spoke about the strange situation. I have often wanted to resolve this and find peace of mind, but I have decided to let the issue sit.
"America's media company" is outsourcing technology to India and lied to its current staff. This was their plan all along, and I unfortunately have been affected by the trickle-down effect. I did not need this job, but it was a new opportunity that was presented to me, and I made the decision to leave my current team. I was deceived and ended up in a highly undesirable work environment with a non-existent engineering team. One of my colleagues early on said, "I'm not sure what we have for you now," which was confusing. I was the new Technical Lead, and my responsibilities were clearly outlined in the job description. What did they mean? I have been aware of the issues, problems, and complaints for several months and worked hard to try to solve them once I finally got the job. Even before I was hired, I regretfully spent time researching and thinking about actions to take.
I have never wanted to leave an opportunity that I worked so hard for as much as I did this one. It is heartbreaking. This "experimental" make-believe company was a complete joke, with many wrong turns taken due to poor decisions made by clueless leaders who did not listen to or take expert advice. Instead, they created and drank their own delusional, toxic Kool-Aid.
